Your
backup files are encrypted using the
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)
algorithm. AES is the new encryption
standard
currently in use by the U.S. government
to protect classified information.
SecureBackup™ uses this same encryption method for protecting your
files.
Unlike
Internet security, strong file encryption
is not something that
can
be "hacked" or compromised. Not even the best cryptographer can decrypt and read your backup
files. The only way that your backup
files
can
be read
is if
they
were decrypted
and
the only
way
to
decrypt
your backup
files is with your password.
Is
my password stored online or anywhere
else?
No,
we do not store your password online
or anywhere else. This means that even
if our systems were compromised, nobody
would be able to retrieve your password
and decrypt your backup files.
Can you view or read my backup files?
No,
we do not have your password and therefore
can not view or read your backup files.
Do you know what my password is?
No,
we do not know what your password
is, nor can we retrieve it because
we do not have a copy of it.
Will
you ever ask me for my password?
No,
we will never ask you for
your password. The only time you
need to provide
your
password
is
when
the
SecureBackup™ software starts up.
Please do not give your password
to
anyone
under
any circumstances
no matter how genuine the request may
seem.
What happens if I lose my password?
As
outlined in our Terms of Service, you are ultimately responsible for remembering your password.
Our
service is so secure that if
you lose your password you will
not be able to restore your backup
files in the event of data loss.
Please remember your password!
The
only remedy that we can provide for a
lost password is to let you change
your password
to a new one. Note that when
your password is changed, all of
your current backup files become obsolete
and
you will need to backup all of your
files again because they will not be
synchronized.

FAQ
Why
can't I sign up for service on
your website?
Service
can only be ordered during the
installation process of the SecureBackup™ software.
Signing up for any service online brings some risk. A malicious hacker can
install code server-side to
eavesdrop on the information
you enter
including your password.
In this case, not even the best
online
banking grade SSL encryption
will help protect your password.
And if someone has your password,
your
entire
account is compromised.
Though we implement better then SSL grade encryption (256-bit) to secure
the communication channel, we
also
use a
client-based approach with client-side
encryption to avoid server-side
eavesdropping. This
way, not even the best hacker
in the world will
be able to obtain your password.
Why do I have to provide a credit card for my free 30-day trial?
Asking
for a credit card lowers the
potential for our free trial
to be abused by those who would
continue to order consecutive
30-day trials without ever intending
to pay for it.
By asking
for
a credit
card we know that
you are serious about wanting
to
try our service. We have a
*No Questions Asked* account
cancellation
policy. If you wish to cancel
service, simply let us know before
your
30 day
trial expires.
Why is your service so inexpensive?
Although
we offer small business and corporate
solutions, most businesses and
individuals
just
want to
back up their
critical data at an affordable
price.
With the cost of server hardware
decreasing regularly, we know
that we
are priced to stay in business
and
to be
competitive.
Is providing my credit card information within the SecureBackup™ software secure?
Yes.
Your data is encrypted using
a public key within the software.
Only we have the private key
required to decrypt it and this
private key is not stored online.
This means that your credit card
information can not be
decrypted by anyone
other than us, even if our systems
were compromised.
Note: The SecureBackup™ software also implements
1024-bit RSA encryption
when communicating with the Account
Manager. This
is stronger than the industry
standard 128-bit SSL encryption
used for things like online banking.
